5 Unique AI Tools You Can Try Besides Gemini and ChatGPT

In this era of advancing technology, artificial intelligence (AI) has become an essential part of daily life. When we think of AI, chatbots like GPT, Gemini Pro, and Opus often come to mind. However, there are many other AI tools that offer more specific solutions tailored to your needs. Here are five unique AI tools I use and recommend for various purposes.

1. NotebookLM: A Reliable Research Assistant

If you are working on a writing project, especially non-fiction books, NotebookLM could be the right choice. I have used this tool to help research and organize my ideas. The main advantage of NotebookLM is its ability to minimize misinformation (hallucinations), as it only relies on the data and sources you provide, such as PDFs, Google Docs, and even YouTube videos.

The Audio Overviews feature in NotebookLM is also very interesting. This feature transforms uploaded data into summaries in the form of conversations or podcasts, making it easier to share notes or ideas with others. This way, you can view your data from a different perspective, which might open up new creative opportunities.

2. OpenNotebook: An Interesting Alternative

If you are looking for another alternative to NotebookLM, OpenNotebook might be a good option. Although I have not used this tool for long, OpenNotebook offers many similar features but with some important differences. The audio breakdowns it produces are shorter and less in-depth than NotebookLM’s, but OpenNotebook supports more AI models from various providers, such as Anthropic and OpenAI.

3. Midjourney: Creativity Without Limits

When it comes to creating images and videos, Midjourney is a superior tool. Although Gemini can generate clips and images, I prefer using Midjourney because of its much higher quality results. This tool also offers many customization options and an inpainting feature that allows you to fix specific parts of generated images.

I personally use Midjourney for special projects, such as making children’s books for friends and family. This tool is also very useful in game development, such as with Construct 3. While it requires a subscription starting at $10, many users feel the investment is worth the results.

4. Claude Code: An Efficient Coding Assistant

If you want to learn or review coding, Claude Code from Anthropic is a very helpful AI assistant. This tool can be integrated directly into your terminal or IDE, making it easy to use. I recently started building an Android app with a progressive web project I designed for household management. With Claude Code’s help, I was able to complete the basic project in about an hour, something that could have taken days without this tool.

5. Flourish: A Mental Health Companion

Flourish is an AI assistant focused on mental health and well-being. While I still recommend therapy conducted by professionals, Flourish can be a good support during the process. This tool helps you check your emotions, analyze your thoughts, and gain deeper clarity. I have been using Flourish daily for the past month and found that interacting with its assistant, Sunny, feels more human-like compared to other chatbots.

With these various AI tools, you have many options to support creative needs, research, mental health, and app development. Although Gemini and ChatGPT are very popular, it doesn’t hurt to try these unique tools to find the one that best suits your needs.
