Amazon has marked a historic milestone by achieving its highest quarterly revenue ever in Q2 2026. The American tech giant reported an impressive revenue of $200.6 billion. When converted to local currency, this amounts to approximately Rp 3,622 trillion, based on the current exchange rate of Rp 18,060 per dollar.
Record-Breaking Revenue Figures
This is the first time that Amazon has crossed the $200 billion mark in a single quarter. The revenue earned from April to June indicates a significant year-on-year increase of 20%, compared to $167.7 billion (around Rp 3,028 trillion) during the same period last year.
Cloud Computing as a Growth Driver
The remarkable growth is primarily attributed to Amazon Web Services (AWS), the company’s cloud computing division. This quarter's performance represents the fastest growth rate in 18 quarters, surpassing analysts' expectations, which had predicted an increase of around 31%.
Boost in AI and Chip Revenue
Currently, AWS generates an annualized revenue of approximately $169 billion (around Rp 3,052 trillion). The operational profit from AWS has also seen a sharp rise, reaching $16.6 billion (approximately Rp 300 trillion), compared to $10.2 billion (around Rp 184 trillion) in Q2 2025. Andy Jassy, President and CEO of Amazon, stated, “AWS is growing rapidly, with a 36.7% annual growth rate in Q2, the highest in 18 quarters. Our AI and chip businesses have also surpassed an annual revenue level of over $25 billion.”
Investor Reaction and Future Outlook
The financial report exceeded analysts' expectations, resulting in a positive response from investors. Following the report's release on Thursday, July 30, 2026, Amazon's stock price surged by over 9% in after-hours trading. Investors appear optimistic, seeing that Amazon’s increased investment in AI is being complemented by rapid growth in its cloud business.
As demand for AI services continues to rise, Amazon has decided to further increase its capital expenditures throughout 2026, signaling its commitment to innovation and market leadership.
