Google has been making significant adjustments to the Gemini animation in recent months. The company has previously implemented its Neural Expressive design language in various interfaces, including the Gemini overlay and Circle to Search. Now, it appears that Google is extending this animation to Android Auto, enhancing the user experience.
What’s New with Gemini in Android Auto?
Currently, when using Gemini in Android Auto, users notice a gentle glow at the bottom—or side—of their vehicle's infotainment display, indicating that the system is listening. Upon initiating a voice command, the Gemini Live button and the close button disappear from view. However, an exploration of the latest Android Auto app (version 17.9.664004) reveals that Google is developing an exciting new animation for Gemini.
First Look at the Upcoming Animation
This new animation is still in the developmental phase, but we've managed to activate it on our device for a preview. It showcases Google’s Neural Expressive design language with animated dots surrounding the Gemini interface. Furthermore, this animation will extend across the entire width of the screen, with the close button and Gemini Live button positioned on either end.
Personalization Features on the Horizon
In addition to the new animation, recent findings suggest that Google is also working on introducing a “Personalization” feature for Gemini within Android Auto. Although the specifics of how this feature will operate in vehicles remain unclear, several newly discovered strings indicate a clearer functionality.
According to these strings, the “Personalization” feature in Android Auto will mirror its counterpart on smartphones. Essentially, Gemini will be capable of referencing past conversations and connected apps to present tailored responses on the screen once this feature is activated.
Future Developments and Expectations
Google is evidently striving to enhance the Gemini experience in Android Auto by incorporating a fresh animation and personalizing the assistant's functionality while driving. However, these enhancements are not yet available to users, and the timeline for their release remains uncertain. Users are hopeful that Google will finalize the development and roll out these exciting features soon.
