Apple appears to have a plethora of products lined up for release this year. Following the introduction of its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, the tech giant is reportedly preparing to unveil its inaugural touchscreen MacBook.
Upcoming Announcement Details
According to a Bloomberg report, the touchscreen MacBook is set to be announced on October 27. Unlike typical product launches, Apple will forgo a large-scale event, opting instead for an online video presentation and hands-on sessions for select media representatives.
Rumors and Specifications
The concept of a touchscreen MacBook has been circulating since early 2023. Initial rumors suggested it might be branded as the MacBook Ultra; however, Bloomberg’s insights indicate that it will instead belong to the MacBook Pro lineup.
The upcoming MacBook Pro is expected to feature an OLED display and the innovative Dynamic Island for the first time. Consumers can anticipate this model in both 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, boasting a slimmer design compared to existing MacBook Pro models.
Powerful Performance
Apple is predicted to equip this new laptop with either the M5 Pro or M5 Max processors, making it comparable to the current high-end MacBook Pro variants, as reported by Engadget.
Additional Product Announcements
Beyond the touchscreen MacBook, Apple is also rumored to unveil a new iPad Mini featuring an OLED display during the same presentation. Bloomberg claims the updated iPad Mini will come with improved speakers and a front camera repositioned to the horizontal edge.
Moreover, Apple is likely to refresh its iMac lineup and update the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the new M6 chipset. The current entry-level MacBook Pro is running on the M5 chip, while the iMac is still powered by the M4.
If these reports hold true, October is shaping up to be a bustling month for Apple. The company has recently dispatched invitations for an event titled "Welcome Home," scheduled for October 13.
During this upcoming event, Apple is expected to announce various smart home devices, including a long-rumored smart home hub, a new generation of Apple TV 4K, and upgraded HomePods mini.
