Xiaomi has unveiled a list of devices set to receive a new interface design called Soft Light Glass, introduced through HyperOS 4. This innovative design closely resembles Apple's Liquid Glass interface found in iOS 26.
What is Soft Light Glass?
Soft Light Glass integrates transparent elements and lighting effects into various sections of the system, including Quick Settings, menu buttons, widgets, folders, and more. This fresh approach aims to enhance user interaction and create a more dynamic visual experience.
Device Compatibility and Requirements
However, not all Xiaomi devices will support this new design. Initially, Xiaomi is rolling out Soft Light Glass to devices equipped with specific processing capabilities, as the complexity of the graphics rendering required is significant. The design's interactive lighting effects necessitate advanced hardware to function properly.
Initial Rollout and Future Plans
Currently, the Soft Light Glass interface is available only to devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset or newer, MediaTek Dimensity 9500, or Xring O1 and above. This limited rollout is part of a beta phase, and Xiaomi has indicated that further optimization is needed before a wider release.
List of Supported Devices
While the list of devices is not final, Xiaomi intends to extend support for Soft Light Glass to a broader range of models after the initial beta phase. For now, the following devices are included in the rollout:
- Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro
- Xiaomi Pad 8
- Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra
- Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro
- Redmi K Pad 2
- Redmi K Pad
Additionally, the interface will also be implemented in several smartphones, including older models like the Xiaomi 13, Redmi K70, and Xiaomi Mix Flip.
The beta program for HyperOS 4 is currently limited to the Chinese market. However, as the device compatibility is based on chipsets, global models with equivalent specifications are expected to gain access to the Soft Light Glass interface in due course. Xiaomi has yet to announce a specific timeline for the global availability of this new design.
