Honor X6c Review: Affordable Smartphone with Durable Design

The Honor X6c is making waves in the budget smartphone market, priced at around 2 million IDR. This entry-level device boasts a range of appealing features, including a 5,300 mAh battery, a 120Hz display, a 50 MP main camera, and an innovative AI Button.

What sets the Honor X6c apart is not just its specifications but also its rugged design, featuring IP64 protection. Surprisingly, it maintains a sleek look typical of standard smartphones rather than appearing bulky like traditional rugged devices.

Design and Build Quality

The design of the Honor X6c is quite impressive for an entry-level smartphone. It avoids the overly thick body or rugged elements that often characterize devices meant for extreme activities. With dimensions of 163.95 x 75.6 mm and a thickness of 8.39 mm, it feels comfortable to hold. Weighing approximately 199 grams, the phone is well-balanced, especially considering its large 6.61-inch display and substantial battery.

The back of the phone features a glossy finish that surprisingly does not feel slippery and resists fingerprints well, keeping the device looking clean even with frequent use. This makes it comfortable to use without a case, although Honor includes a transparent case in the box for those desiring extra protection.

Durability Testing

One of the standout qualities of the Honor X6c is its durability. We conducted drop tests from heights of 1 to 1.5 meters, including impacts against hard surfaces like ceramic floors. Remarkably, the device showed no significant physical damage, such as dents or scratches, and all functions remained intact post-testing. This performance validates the claims of durability made by Honor.

The phone also exhibits impressive water resistance for daily use. It remained operational even after being splashed with water and functioned normally in light rain. However, it's important to note that the IP64 rating does not guarantee submersion in water or swimming use.

Features and Performance

One unique feature of the Honor X6c is the customizable AI Button located on the left side of the device. This physical button can be programmed for quick access to specific apps or functions, adding a layer of convenience, especially when hands are wet or sweaty. The AI Button can also be pressed and held to access Google Lens, allowing for quick visual searches.

The device features a 6.61-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1,604 x 720 pixels (HD+). While this resolution may seem like a compromise compared to competitors with higher resolutions, it performs adequately for everyday tasks. The display's brightness, rated at 1,000 nits, ensures visibility under bright conditions, making it suitable for outdoor use.

The 120Hz refresh rate enhances the user experience, providing smooth scrolling and navigation through apps and social media. Overall, while the display may not be the sharpest in its class, it still offers a comfortable viewing experience.

Battery Life and Camera Capabilities

Powering the Honor X6c is a MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra chipset coupled with 6 GB of RAM. While not designed for high-performance tasks, it handles daily activities such as chatting, browsing, and streaming with ease. For casual gaming, it can manage lighter games, though it may struggle with more demanding titles.

In terms of battery life, the 5,300 mAh capacity is one of the phone's strongest features. Throughout our testing, it comfortably lasted a full day with a variety of uses, including chatting, browsing, and watching videos. With lighter usage, the battery could last up to 1.5 to 2 days, making it an excellent choice for users with busy lifestyles.

The Honor X6c is equipped with a 50 MP main camera with an aperture of f/1.8, supported by additional lenses. It performs well in good lighting conditions, capturing detailed and natural-looking photos. However, its performance diminishes in low-light situations, where noise becomes noticeable.

For selfies, the front camera offers 5 MP, producing decent quality images suitable for social media and video calls, although it tends to lose detail in dim lighting.

Overall, the Honor X6c presents an attractive package for those seeking a durable and reliable smartphone within a budget. With its sturdy build, long-lasting battery, and user-friendly features, it is a commendable option for everyday use.
