Huawei has officially launched its nova 16 and 16 Pro smartphones globally, following their initial introduction in China earlier this summer. As part of its global lineup, the nova 16s and nova 16s Pro have been unveiled, with the latter showcasing an impressive 200MP RYYB main camera.
Camera Innovations in the nova 16s Pro
The flagship nova 16s Pro model stands out with its robust camera setup. The main camera features a remarkable 200MP RYYB sensor, supported by a fast f/1.8 lens and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Additionally, it boasts a 1.5MP multi-spectral sensor that enhances color calibration based on the scene.
Other notable cameras include a 50MP RYYB periscope lens with a 3.7x optical zoom (f/2.6 with OIS) and a 50MP ultra-wide camera, offering a 118° field of view and a 2.5cm macro mode. For selfies, a standard 50MP camera is available, ensuring high-quality images for users.
Display and Design Features
The nova 16s Pro is equipped with a 6.84-inch LTPO OLED display, capable of refreshing between 1 to 120Hz. Remarkably, it reaches a peak brightness of 6,000 nits (with 1% APL) and 4,000 nits dynamic peak brightness (20% APL). Brightness control is achieved through high-frequency PWM dimming at 2,160Hz.
In terms of design, the phone features a sleek aerospace-grade aluminum alloy mid-frame with Kunlun Glass on the front, which provides a 10-fold increase in drop resistance compared to previous models. The device is available in four vibrant colors: Isle Blue, Breathing Crystal, Starry Black, and Sky White.
Battery Life and Charging Capabilities
Both the nova 16s and 16s Pro are powered by a substantial 7,000mAh battery, ensuring longevity throughout the day. The devices support 100W Huawei SuperCharge Turbo technology through a USB-C 2.0 port, allowing for rapid charging to quickly get the users back on the go.
Performance and Software Features
On the performance front, the nova 16s Pro runs on the Kirin 9010S chipset, while the standard nova 16s is powered by the Kirin 8020. Both models come equipped with Huawei's EMUI 16.0, moving away from HarmonyOS.
The camera systems are enhanced with AI features that assist users in capturing the best photos. These include AI Composition for framing advice, AI Move for repositioning objects, AI Remove for eliminating unwanted items, AI Best Expression for capturing the best smiles, and AI De-Glare for reducing reflections in images.
Details regarding the pricing and availability of the nova 16s and nova 16s Pro will be announced shortly. As Huawei continues to innovate in the smartphone market, these new models showcase the company's commitment to high-quality camera technology and user-friendly features.
