Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro series, but it has yet to hit the shelves in Indonesia. In anticipation, several tech creators from Indonesia traveled to neighboring countries to get their hands on Apple's latest smartphone ahead of its local launch.
Among the models they selected, the new Burgundy color stood out as a favorite, drawing attention not only for its hue but also for the innovative variable aperture feature in its camera.
First Impressions of Burgundy
Satish Krishna from K2G expressed his thoughts on the Burgundy color, noting that it presents a striking contrast to the previous generation’s Cosmic Orange. He stated, "The Burgundy shade feels 180 degrees different from Cosmic Orange. While Cosmic Orange has a sporty and fresh vibe, Burgundy exudes elegance and class."
He also praised the variable aperture, explaining that this feature allows greater flexibility for users looking to experiment with their photography. "Variable aperture is a nice-to-have feature that enriches the creative process for iPhone Pro users who enjoy tinkering and seek more control in the Apple Camera App," he explained.

Indra from iTechLife admitted he was initially skeptical about the Burgundy color but changed his mind after seeing the device in person. "Apple did it again! I was a bit doubtful at first, but once I saw and held it, I was captivated. The color tone shifts depending on the light conditions, giving it different characters," he said.
Indra highlighted the large aperture's role in improving low-light photography and appreciated the expanded camera controls such as variable aperture, histogram, and white balance. "This year, the design hasn't strayed far from last year's model, as the improvements are primarily focused on the more professional camera features and the new A20 Pro chipset," he noted.
Excitement for New Features
Fransisco A Scesko, who goes by Fransis, shared his excitement over the unique characteristics that Burgundy brings compared to previous iPhone Pro colors. "I'm thrilled because this is the first time Apple has introduced a red color in the iPhone Pro series. The Burgundy shade looks luxurious," he remarked.
However, his main focus was on the variable aperture, which he believes may not be essential for casual users but offers significant advantages for photographers and videographers. "For example, when taking group photos, we can set the aperture to f/4, allowing a deeper depth of field so that more people remain in focus," he explained.
Familiar Vibes and Physical Changes
Effendy noted that the Burgundy color reminded him of the Deep Blue from the iPhone 17 Pro Max. "The vibe is similar to Deep Blue; both are dark and calm yet still look elegant," he stated. He also pointed out a useful aspect of the variable aperture, mentioning that setting it to f/4 could reduce flare under certain conditions.
He observed some physical changes as well, noting that the camera module of the iPhone 18 Pro Max appears slightly thicker, and the Apple logo has a more matte finish and is positioned a bit higher.
Despite these enhancements, he cautioned that the differences might not be immediately noticeable to all users. "For the average user, the changes might not be significant. However, for those familiar with cameras or content creation, the distinctions could be more apparent," he said.

Ibro Kumar found the Burgundy color to be darker than he had anticipated. "It feels more elegant, making it suitable for formal events," he said. He was also enthusiastic about the variable aperture, believing it unlocks new possibilities for serious photographers.
