Meta PCs Introduces Steamroller
In a bold move, Meta PCs has just launched their latest product, a gaming desktop named Steamroller. Unlike most other gaming PCs that run Microsoft Windows, Steamroller comes pre-installed with SteamOS developed by Valve. With this innovation, Meta PCs aims to transform a standard desktop PC into a dedicated "Steam Machine" for gaming, offering an experience more akin to a console.
Interesting Specifications of Steamroller
In terms of hardware, Steamroller is designed as a mid-range gaming machine ready to handle demanding AAA games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and Baldur's Gate 3. Targeting high performance, this PC is built to run these games at 1080p resolution with satisfying frame rates.

A Console-Like User Experience
Although the hardware is quite powerful, the main advantage of Steamroller lies in its software. The familiar Steam interface and Big Picture mode, designed to be gamepad-friendly, make users comfortable when using this PC.
This is significant considering that the first-generation Steam Machine project in 2013 was less successful due to limited support for Linux-based games. However, the current situation is very different. SteamOS now includes Proton translation technology, allowing most games originally exclusive to Windows to run smoothly on this operating system without waiting for Linux versions from developers.
Support from Valve and Competitive Pricing
Valve, as the developer of SteamOS, continues to promote the adoption of this operating system beyond their own devices. With the SteamOS 3.8 update, Valve has expanded support for the latest AMD and Intel platforms. They also encourage the community to build their own Steam Machines, provided they use AMD graphics cards.
Pierre-Loup Griffais, a software developer at Valve, revealed that they are working with Nvidia to bring SteamOS support for their graphics card users. However, he also cautioned that this support might not be ready before 2026.
Regarding pricing, Meta PCs offers the Steamroller starting at USD 1,299, approximately Rp 21.3 million. This price includes lifetime after-sales services such as hardware diagnostics, software troubleshooting, and general maintenance support. Additionally, customers have the option to extend the warranty for USD 180 for two years or USD 240 for three years. For those who have pre-ordered, this gaming PC is expected to begin shipping on July 3, 2026.
