Nintendo has announced plans to cease sales of its first-generation Nintendo Switch consoles across Europe starting mid-February 2027. Despite this major change, Nintendo reassures that support for the Switch ecosystem will not be abruptly terminated. Owners of the console will still have access to the Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Switch Online services, system updates, and the entire library of games they own.

This sales halt coincides with new regulations from the European Union mandating that portable electronic devices must have user-replaceable batteries.
