Traditionally, iPhone pre-orders begin the Friday following the launch event, but this year it falls on September 11, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. As a result, Apple is expected to move the pre-order date to Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The event is anticipated to unveil two flagship models: the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside Apple's first foldable device, likely named the iPhone Ultra. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to feature significant upgrades, including a variable aperture camera, the new A20 chip for improved performance, a new dark cherry color option, a reduced dynamic island size, and enhanced battery capacity.
As for the iPhone Ultra, it is rumored to adopt a passport-like foldable design, similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8. The foldable device is expected to have a front display measuring between 5.4 and 5.5 inches, and a larger inner display of 7.8 inches when opened. Its camera setup is said to consist of two 48-megapixel rear cameras, lacking a telephoto lens, and a battery capacity of approximately 4,883 mAh.
Pricing and Availability Concerns
Pricing for the iPhone Ultra is anticipated to be between $2,300 and $2,500, making it one of Apple's priciest offerings. Although the launch event is likely to take place on September 9, there are concerns about the availability of the iPhone Ultra, which may not align with the release of the iPhone 18 Pro. Prior reports have indicated potential production delays, suggesting that this model might not be available for purchase until October 2026, unlike the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which are expected to be ready for sale by September 18, 2026.
The standard iPhone 18, which does not have a Pro designation, is not expected to be unveiled at this September event, with its launch likely postponed until early 2027.
