Predicted Price Increase of iPhone 18 Pro
Recently, Apple has indicated that their products will experience price increases. This is due to the ongoing crisis in RAM and storage supply. One product expected to be affected is the iPhone 18 Pro, scheduled for release in the second half of this year.
Interview with Apple CEO Regarding Price Increase
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Apple CEO Tim Cook did not specify which products would see price increases or when these would take effect. However, with the iPhone 18 Pro launch approaching, many speculate that the price of this product line will be announced higher than the previous generation.
Price Estimates Based on Analysis
The Wall Street Journal conducted internal analysis and collaborated with research firm TechInsights to estimate the price of the iPhone 18 Pro. They found that the iPhone 18 Pro will likely launch at around USD 1,299 (approximately Rp 23.2 million), although the initial price could reach USD 1,399 (around Rp 24.9 million) or even higher. This price increase is estimated to be between USD 200 and USD 300 compared to the iPhone 17 Pro.
Factors Causing the Price Increase
- Increased costs for RAM and storage in the iPhone 18 Pro.
- Camera system upgrade costs estimated to be 50% higher than the previous generation.
- Apple's usual profit margin from iPhone sales.
Although Apple does not disclose gross profit margins for each product, TechInsights research shows that the margin for the iPhone 17 Pro, sold at USD 1,099, is about 47%. To maintain the same profit margin on the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple would need to price it around USD 1,371. However, given Apple's tendency to set standardized prices, the iPhone 18 Pro price will likely be around USD 1,299, resulting in a gross margin of about 44%.
Considering all these factors, if the iPhone 18 Pro is marketed between USD 1,299 and USD 1,399, the iPhone 18 Pro Max price may be set about USD 100 higher to maintain the current price gap between the Pro and Pro Max models. Additionally, the estimated price for the first foldable iPhone, reportedly named iPhone Ultra, is expected to reach USD 2,000, which may not be considered too high given the innovation offered.
