Introduction to the Galaxy S26 FE
The Samsung Galaxy S26 FE has officially made its global debut, adding to the Galaxy S26 series lineup. This smartphone brings a host of enhancements and features that were previously exclusive to the Galaxy Z8 series.
Jay Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, stated that the Galaxy S26 FE is crafted to embody the distinct advantages of the Galaxy S series, ensuring that every feature makes a meaningful difference in users' daily lives.
Stunning Display and New Chipset
The Galaxy S26 FE features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with FHD+ resolution, offering a smooth refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a peak brightness of 1,900 nits.
A significant upgrade in this model is the introduction of the Exynos 2500 chipset, which is also utilized in the Galaxy Z Flip7. This new processor provides a 15% improvement in multi-core CPU performance and a remarkable 39% boost in NPU performance compared to the Exynos 2400 found in the Galaxy S25 FE.
Camera Capabilities
The camera setup on the Galaxy S26 FE remains consistent with its predecessor, featuring three rear cameras. This configuration includes a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera. For selfies, there is a 12 MP front-facing camera.
Software and AI Features
Running on Android 17 with One UI 9, the Galaxy S26 FE is the first in the S26 family to receive this operating system update. One UI 9 introduces the MyFancam feature, which debuted in the Galaxy Z8 series, allowing users to focus on a specific subject, such as a performing idol, keeping them centered in the frame.
Another notable feature is Horizon Lock, which maintains the orientation of video recordings, even if the phone is rotated 360 degrees during filming. The Photo Assist tool within Galaxy AI has been enhanced, enabling users to edit photos using natural language commands—for example, changing a daytime scene to a nighttime one or adding new elements to an image.
Samsung has also revamped the Now Brief feature, making it more personal. Users can create their own cards by simply providing a prompt. Additionally, the Now Nudge feature has expanded to include third-party apps and specific notifications, offering relevant recommendations to assist users in their daily activities. As a bonus, Samsung is offering a subscription to Google AI Pro and 5TB of cloud storage for six months at no cost.
Battery Life and Availability
The Galaxy S26 FE is powered by a 4,900 mAh battery, consistent with its predecessor, and supports 45W fast charging, which can recharge the device up to 69% in just 30 minutes. Similar to other models in the Galaxy S26 series, the S26 FE will receive operating system updates for seven generations and security updates for seven years.
Available in Blueberry, Graphite, and Pistachio colors, the Galaxy S26 FE will be launched in select countries starting September 4. It comes in various configurations: 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and 8GB/512GB. In the United States, the starting price is set at $699, which is approximately 12.4 million IDR. Details about its release in Indonesia have yet to be announced.
