This material boasts mechanical rigidity that is up to 20 times greater than conventional polymer films, while still being exceptionally thin—about one-third the diameter of a human hair. This allows for a sleek design without compromising strength.
The second layer features a titanium plate located beneath the display module. This component utilizes a specialized hole processing technology to minimize the air gap between the plate and the screen, resulting in a more stable display when unfolded, yet flexible enough for repeated folding.
Enhanced Visual Experience
Samsung is not only focusing on the mechanical structure of the screen but is also integrating high-resolution display architecture and the latest generation of organic materials. These enhancements are claimed to produce sharper images while improving battery efficiency. Kyung-Jin Yoo, EVP and Head of Mobile Display Product Development Team at Samsung Display, noted that the micro-patterned hole technology on the titanium plate allows for flexibility without sacrificing durability. This combination leads to a smoother visual experience with less visible screen creasing.
