Weekly Survey Results: Users' Favorite Gaming Devices

Last week, we conducted a survey to find out which devices are most commonly used by gamers. As a site focused on smartphones, we were not surprised to learn that smartphones are the top choice. However, some of the survey results were quite surprising.

Smartphones Take the Lead

Smartphones ranked highest as the preferred gaming device for many users. With technological advancements and increasingly capable specifications, smartphones now deliver a satisfying gaming experience. Many users prefer playing games on smartphones due to the ease of access and portability they offer.

However, quite a few users also admitted they are not entirely satisfied with the gaming experience on smartphones. Some believe that although smartphones are quite capable, true gaming is still better done on PCs or consoles. This shows that while smartphones dominate, there remains a desire for a richer gaming experience.

Tablets Rank Second

One surprising result was tablets taking second place. Many people use older tablets for watching Netflix or browsing social media, but newer, more powerful tablets are quite capable of running modern games. This fact offers a new perspective on how tablets can remain relevant in the gaming world, despite usually being considered secondary devices.

Tablets are no longer just content consumption tools but can also be gaming devices that provide better visuals compared to smartphones. With larger screens, the gaming experience becomes more enjoyable. Some tablets today even come with specifications that support heavy games, making them an attractive choice for gamers.

PCs and Laptops Still Popular

Next, PCs and laptops ranked third in the survey. The combination of desktops and laptops shows that many gamers still rely on these devices for a deeper gaming experience. From the comments we received, laptops seem to be the preferred choice for those seeking portable gaming devices. Although there are some handheld devices adapted from laptop hardware, they are not as popular as laptops themselves.

Traditional consoles also still have loyal fans, although our audience tends to lean more towards PCs. Some ARM-based handheld devices are available, but most users prefer tablets when they want to play games on a larger screen. There are also some low-powered handhelds used for emulating old games, but these are not the primary choice for most gamers.

Game Streaming and VR Still on the Sidelines

Although game streaming is becoming more popular, the survey results show that this service barely registers on the chart. This indicates that many gamers still prefer a more traditional gaming experience. The same goes for VR gaming, which remains a niche. While we expected VR to be at the bottom, we were surprised to see that VR even outperformed game streaming.

Some users revealed that even though they own flagship phones, tablets, and advanced laptops, they rarely play games. This shows that not all the latest technology guarantees the desired gaming experience. Some gamers believe that when they have a PC, they prefer to play there because they feel the PC is the best device for gaming.

This survey provides an interesting insight into how users choose devices for gaming. While smartphones dominate, tablets and PCs also hold a special place in gamers' hearts. With ongoing changes in technology, we may see further shifts in how people play games in the future.
