Samsung's Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2 Specs Leak Ahead of Launch

With the Galaxy Unpacked event approaching on July 22, Samsung enthusiasts are eager to learn more about the upcoming Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Recent leaks have provided a clearer picture of what to expect, including specifications and features that promise to enhance the smartwatch experience.

Display and Battery Details

According to a report from Winfuture, the Galaxy Watch 9 will be available in two sizes: a 40mm model boasting a 438 x 438-pixel display and a larger 44mm variant with a 480 x 480-pixel display. In contrast, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will also feature the same 480 x 480-pixel display, ensuring sharp visuals across all models.

Battery life is a crucial aspect for smartwatch users, and Samsung appears to be making significant improvements. The 44mm Galaxy Watch 9 will include a 445mAh battery, matching the previous Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to come with an impressive 800mAh battery, a notable increase from the 590mAh found in its predecessor. The 40mm Galaxy Watch 9 will maintain a 325mAh battery, consistent with the previous model.

Performance and Connectivity Features

All versions of the upcoming smartwatches will support Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and dual-band Wi-Fi, with LTE options available as well. This ensures that users have a robust connectivity experience across all models.

One of the most substantial changes in this generation of smartwatches is the switch from Samsung's Exynos W1000 SoC to the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite SW6100 SoC, which was announced earlier this year. This shift is anticipated to bring about improved performance and efficiency.

Design and Durability

In terms of design, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will feature a titanium casing, offering a premium feel and enhanced durability, while the Galaxy Watch 9 will be made with aluminum. Durability ratings are also impressive, with the Ultra 2 expected to be water-resistant up to 100 meters, compared to the 5 ATM rating for the other models. This makes the Ultra 2 a suitable option for water sports and swimming enthusiasts.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing details have also emerged, suggesting that the Galaxy Watch 9 will start at €409 ($468) for the 40mm Bluetooth model, with the LTE variant priced at €459 ($525). The larger 44mm models are expected to start at €439 ($502) for Bluetooth and €489 ($560) for LTE. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is anticipated to carry a price tag of €749 ($857) for the LTE version.

As we approach the Galaxy Unpacked event, anticipation builds for the new health and fitness features that Samsung is likely to introduce across these smartwatches. With all these exciting upgrades, we can only wait to see how they perform in real-world scenarios, especially regarding battery life and overall user experience.
