As October rolls in, it's time for tech enthusiasts to gear up for the latest updates from Google, particularly for Pixel device users. This month, Google has released its October update, bringing a range of improvements and bug fixes for various Pixel phones and tablets.
What's New in the October Update
The October Pixel update is now available for a selection of devices. Depending on your model, the build version you'll receive may differ. For users of the Pixel 6 and 7 series, as well as the original Pixel Fold and Pixel tablet, the update will arrive as CP3A.261005.002.A1. Meanwhile, owners of the new Pixel 11 series will get build CD1A.261005.003, and those with Pixel 8, 9, and 10 models will see CP3A.261005.005.
Major Bug Fixes Highlighted
Among the updates, Google has addressed several significant issues. For Pixel 8 through Pixel 10 users, there’s a fix for an audio problem that occasionally leads to noise or distortion during VoIP calls. Additionally, the Pixel 8 through Pixel 11 series will benefit from a fix that resolves an issue where the virtual keyboard sometimes fails to appear when users interact with search input fields.
For the Pixel 11 series specifically, there’s a noteworthy patch that corrects sensor glitches, which could cause photos or videos to save in the wrong orientation. This fix is crucial for those who rely on their devices for photography and videography.
No Changes for Pixel 6 and 7 Users
Interestingly, the update notes do not indicate any changes specifically aimed at the Pixel 6 or 7 models. However, it is advisable for all users to stay updated with the latest software releases to ensure optimal device performance. Google has mentioned that the rollout will occur in phases over the coming week, so keep an eye out for your update notification.
Final Updates for Pixel 6 and 7 Models?
For Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users, this October update might be one of the last monthly updates they receive. Originally launched on October 19, 2021, these models are nearing the end of their software support period, which is set at five years. Consequently, unless Google announces a last-minute extension, the November update will mark the end of regular updates for these devices.
While it’s always bittersweet to see support for older devices taper off, it might be an opportune moment for users to consider upgrading to a newer Pixel model.
In conclusion, the October Pixel update brings essential fixes and improvements, ensuring that Google’s devices continue to perform at their best as we transition into the fall season.
