Microsoft has recently unveiled improvements to Windows 11, emphasizing enhanced performance across various devices. With these upgrades, the company claims that Windows 11 is now 20% more responsive, even on systems with limited RAM.
Key Enhancements to Windows 11
In a recent blog post, Microsoft detailed various optimizations made within Windows 11, including enhancements to the Start menu, File Explorer, Search functionality, and the Edge browser. These changes aim to provide a quicker and more responsive user experience.
Intelligent Resource Management
Navjot Virk, Corporate Vice President of Windows Experience at Microsoft, highlighted the use of smarter memory and system resource management as a key factor in these improvements. "We have enhanced memory management and efficiency across Windows to keep your PC resources focused on what you are currently working on," Virk stated.
Memory Efficiency Improvements
One notable enhancement allows Windows 11 to retain up to 2GB more active data in memory, reducing the need to transfer data to slower storage solutions. Users with PCs equipped with 8GB of RAM are expected to notice a significant boost in performance, especially when running multiple applications.
Additional Features and Upcoming Updates
Furthermore, Microsoft has made several other adjustments, such as reducing interruptions caused by Windows Update, refining the Widget feature, and enabling users to move the taskbar to the sides or top of the screen. The login process using Windows Hello has also been expedited, and Bluetooth accessory connections, including AirPods, are now completed 15 seconds faster.
Looking ahead, Microsoft plans to release a new, faster Windows Search feature. Currently, this update is available to Windows Insiders, with a broader rollout expected by the end of the year.
