Xiaomi is gearing up for the launch of its latest foldable device, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, which is set to debut next week. A preview at IFA 2026 allowed us to get a closer look at this exciting gadget, even though it was displayed behind glass.
Stunning Design
The first feature that grabs attention is the vibrant red color of the 18 Fold, which appears even more striking in person compared to previous images circulated online. This bold hue is sure to make a statement.
In terms of design, the Xiaomi 18 Fold adopts a compact and wide form reminiscent of the popular Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8. However, Xiaomi has opted for rounded corners, which enhance the device's ergonomics. This thoughtful design choice is likely to ensure comfort during extended use, avoiding discomfort in the palms.
Display Features
The cover screen measures 5.38 inches and presents a unique aesthetic. Interestingly, the left side has a more squared-off appearance while the right corners are rounded. This design element creates a distinctive look that sets it apart from competitors.
While we couldn’t physically interact with the device, the display bezels appeared impressively slim, and we struggled to detect the crease on the main 7.58-inch screen from most angles. The main display also features a punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera located in the top right corner, adding to its modern appeal.
Camera Specifications
The camera setup on the Xiaomi 18 Fold is noteworthy, featuring a dual-front camera arrangement on the cover screen and a triple-camera system on the back. This configuration includes a main sensor, a telephoto lens, and an ultrawide camera, catering to a variety of photography needs.
Powerful Performance with XRING O3 Chip
Xiaomi has confirmed that the 18 Fold will be powered by its proprietary XRING O3 chipset, which promises impressive performance. Although we are awaiting further details, initial impressions suggest that this chip will enhance the overall user experience.
