Yandex and Komdigi Present Free AI Training to Develop Future Digital Talent
Amid the rapid advancement of digital technology, the demand for talent in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and data science is increasingly urgent. Recognizing this, Yandex in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has launched a free online training program titled “Linear Models in Machine Learning: Fundamentals, Applications, and Competition.” This training is expected to serve as a bridge for Indonesians to enhance their competencies in this highly needed field.
Registration Open to Everyone
Registration for this program opened on Tuesday, June 29, 2026, and will run until Sunday, July 19, 2026. Anyone can register, but the training is highly recommended for students from all semesters, especially those from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. The program is designed to equip participants with a deep understanding of machine learning, particularly linear regression, from basic concepts to real-world applications.
Comprehensive Curriculum for In-Depth Understanding
The curriculum covers essential topics in machine learning, from data preprocessing techniques to developing linear regression models. In this training, participants will learn to use Python and Scikit-learn, supported by practical exercises and relevant case studies. Participants will not only learn how to build models but also techniques for model evaluation and validation, how to overcome common machine learning challenges, and how to translate business needs into effective AI-based solutions.
This training program adopts a learning journey method designed by the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) Komdigi and Yandex. This method combines self-learning, mentor sessions, practical labs, assignments, evaluations, and a competition. It is important for each participant to complete all learning stages on schedule to be eligible for the competition held at the end of the program.
Well-Structured Training Program
The first batch of training is scheduled from Monday, July 20, 2026, to Sunday, August 23, 2026. During this period, participants will study four learning modules designed to be completed within one week each. They will receive guidance from mentors who are machine learning experts from local companies collaborating with Yandex.
After completing all modules, participants will take a final assessment consisting of 40 questions to be answered within 40 minutes. Those who pass will be invited to participate in an online hackathon scheduled from Friday, September 4, 2026, to Wednesday, September 6, 2026. During this event, participants will compete to solve machine learning challenges and have the chance to win attractive prizes.
Opportunities for Growth and Contribution in AI
After the mentor-guided batch concludes, the program will continue with self-paced batches opened monthly in September and October 2026. Each batch will last six weeks, following the same structure—from entrance test, four learning modules, to certificate issuance for participants who pass.
Alexander Popovskiy, CEO of Yandex Search, stated that this program is designed for anyone who wants to improve their skills in AI and machine learning. "We hope more AI talents will grow and contribute to the AI ecosystem, both in Indonesia and globally," he said.
Through this training, participants are expected not only to earn certificates but also to gain practical skills relevant to industry needs. The previous training in 2025 successfully attracted 1,295 participants, produced hackathon winners, and many participants received awards for their achievements.
Bonifasius Pudjianto from the Human Resources Development Agency for Communication and Digital emphasized that Indonesia needs more talent in AI, machine learning, and data science, especially for sectors such as transportation, agriculture, and health. "This training provides a strong foundation for participants to create real impact in these various sectors," he added.
