Valve has rolled out a significant update for Dota 2, focusing on improving the Dark Carnival event while also addressing various bugs affecting heroes, items, neutral creeps, and overall game stability.
This patch represents one of the largest updates since the introduction of Dark Carnival, enhancing the quality of the gaming experience during the event and resolving multiple gameplay issues raised by the community.
Revamped Hero Ticket Mechanics
The most notable change is the revamped Hero Ticket collection mechanism in Dark Carnival. Players will now earn two Ticket Fragments for every match completed in normal mode, while Turbo mode awards one fragment. By collecting six fragments, players can exchange them for a Hero Ticket of their choice, allowing for a more flexible approach to progress through the event.
Expanded Acquisition Methods
In addition to the ticket system, Valve has broadened the ways to acquire the Daily Clairvoyance Stone. This daily item can now be obtained through co-op matches against bots, provided the game is played at a qualifying difficulty level.
Improvements to the Dark Carnival Interface
Valve has also made several enhancements to the Dark Carnival interface. The Candy Shop now marks items already owned by players, simplifying the rerolling of rewards. Additionally, the event filter now displays the number of Hero Tickets still needed to claim the next reward, making the process more straightforward.
Gameplay Stability and Bug Fixes
This latest patch brings numerous improvements to overall gameplay quality. Valve has added a range indicator for Innate Abilities when the cursor is hovered over the skill. Various issues related to Captains Mode, coaching systems, bot intelligence, and crashes affecting both servers and clients have also been resolved.
Furthermore, several bugs have been addressed, including issues with Aghanim's Scepter charge calculations, interactions with recipes after acquiring Aghanim's Shard, additional tower attack effects, Dark Carnival Pie effects, and Spell Lifesteal mechanics.
Neutral creeps have also seen fixes, with Valve rectifying the functionality of Granite Aura for the Ancient Granite Golem, the Desecrate ability of the Ancient Shaman, and ensuring that Toughness Aura from the Wildwing Ripper is correctly recognized as an aura.
Additionally, several items have received technical fixes, and numerous bugs affecting dozens of heroes have been addressed in this update.
Through this latest patch, Valve emphasizes its commitment to refining Dark Carnival, which stands as the main event for Dota 2 leading up to The International 2026. With a more flexible Hero Ticket system, an informative event interface, and dozens of gameplay and hero fixes, players can now enjoy a smoother experience with reduced technical disruptions.
