Smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has officially announced its exit from the North American and European markets. This decision marks a significant shift for the brand as it stops launching new products in these key regions.
Strategic Shift in Global Operations
In a formal statement, OnePlus indicated that this move is part of a proactive adjustment to its global strategy. The company had previously refuted rumors about leaving the Western markets, assuring customers that operations in North America were normal. However, the latest confirmation clarifies that OnePlus will no longer introduce new products in North America and Europe.
Support for Existing Customers
Despite halting new product launches, OnePlus has assured its customers in both regions that they will continue to receive device support. Existing OnePlus users can expect consistent software updates and security patches as per the established schedule. Customer service will remain operational to handle warranty claims and after-sales support.
Changes to Community Services
OnePlus also revealed alterations to its community services in North America. The OnePlus Community website and app will cease operations on August 16, 2026, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. This community platform has served as an official forum for users to discuss, share experiences, and gather information about the latest products from OnePlus. After the shutdown, North American users will lose access to this forum both online and through the app.
Continued Focus on India
While OnePlus is stepping back from North America and Europe, the company confirmed that its operations in India will continue without interruption. OnePlus plans to introduce several new products in India, including the upcoming OnePlus N6x. This announcement aligns with earlier speculations concerning the company’s future in Western markets, which had been circulating since the beginning of the year.
In recent years, OnePlus has seen a shift in its business focus. The company had expanded its smartphone sales in the U.S. through partnerships with T-Mobile and Verizon. However, after the pandemic, OnePlus began to concentrate more on the Indian market. Additionally, the company has increasingly come under the influence of its parent company, Oppo.
