Team Vitality's Performance at PMWC 2026 Reviewed

Indonesia showcased its talent at the PUBG MOBILE World Cup (PMWC) 2026, with Team Vitality emerging as a standout in Group B. This group was notorious for being fiercely competitive, featuring many top-tier teams. Nevertheless, Team Vitality, led by Reizy, managed to top their group, outperforming renowned teams like Yangon Galacticos and Alpha7, both former PMWC champions, as well as Tianba, a major contender from China.

Unexpected Challenges for RRQ Ryu

On the other hand, RRQ Ryu struggled to find their rhythm throughout the group stage and failed to secure a direct spot in the Grand Finals. They had to fight through the Survival Stage but encountered issues maintaining consistency, ultimately falling short of advancing to the Grand Finals.

Team Vitality's Grand Finals Disappointment

Despite their impressive group stage performance and being seen as strong contenders, Team Vitality could not replicate their success in the Grand Finals. In a surprising twist, teams like Nongshim RedForce and eArena, who had previously fought through the Survival Stage, displayed more aggression in the finals. They quickly climbed the leaderboard and reached Match Point under the Smash Rule format employed in the Grand Finals of PMWC 2026.

Coaching and Strategy Adjustments

Coach Cleon sought to optimize Team Vitality's lineup and strategies to enhance their standings. However, their performance failed to reach the heights they exhibited during the group matches. As a result, Team Vitality finished in 12th place in the Grand Finals, accumulating 32 Placement Points and 66 Elimination Points, a far cry from their dominant group stage showing.

Prize Distribution and Future Prospects

Despite the disappointing finish, Team Vitality walked away with a prize of $116,000 (around IDR 2.07 billion). In contrast, S2G Esports, who claimed the championship, took home $555,000 (about IDR 9.8 billion), marking their second world title after their PMGC 2022 victory. Meanwhile, RRQ Ryu earned $25,000 (approximately IDR 445 million) for their participation.

Qzz from Tianba was recognized with the Final MVP award and received an additional $25,000 for his outstanding performance.

While Team Vitality and RRQ Ryu's journey at the global stage has concluded, the competitive landscape for PUBG MOBILE in Indonesia continues. Attention now shifts to the PMPL ID Fall 2026, where the nation's top teams will once again compete for glory, hosted in Manado. This will provide a new opportunity for Indonesian teams to sharpen their skills and prepare for future international challenges.

The results from PMWC 2026 serve as crucial lessons for both Team Vitality and RRQ Ryu. Team Vitality needs to focus on maintaining consistency from the group stage through to the finals, while RRQ Ryu must work on refining their performance to compete at the highest level once more.
