Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Z Flip 8 during the Galaxy Unpacked event held in London on July 22, 2026. This new model joins the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra as part of Samsung's latest lineup of foldable smartphones.
Enhanced Design and Features
At this year's event, Samsung focused on refining the design of the Galaxy Z Flip 8, making it slimmer and more user-friendly. One of the standout features highlighted by Samsung’s Product Management representative, Lee Dinham, is the upgraded FlexWindow experience.
AI-native FlexWindow
The FlexWindow, which utilizes AI technology, allows users to access a multitude of features directly from the cover screen without needing to unfold the device. This is made possible through One UI 9, which is based on Android 17 and debuts with the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
According to Dinham, familiar gestures used on the main screen can now also be applied on the cover screen. Users can swipe down to view notifications, swipe right to access quick settings, or swipe up to open the application list. FlexWindow enhances usability by allowing more applications, such as Gallery and Calendar, to be viewed in full-screen mode directly on the cover screen.
Hardware Upgrades
In addition to the software advancements, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 features hardware improvements, including the new Exynos 2600 chipset, which promises better performance. The device’s body is now thinner, measuring just 6.1 mm when opened, compared to 6.5 mm in its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Furthermore, it weighs only 180 grams, making it lighter than the previous model which weighed 188 grams.
Display and Specifications
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 maintains a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, offering a resolution of 1,080 x 2,520 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate that ranges from 1 to 120 Hz. When folded, the dimensions of the device are 75.4 x 85.7 x 13.1 mm, while it measures 75.4 x 166.9 x 6.1 mm when opened.
With these enhancements, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 promises to deliver a more refined and efficient user experience, catering to the evolving needs of smartphone users in a competitive market.
