Samsung Launches Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 Models

Samsung has officially launched its latest generation of foldable smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked event held in London on July 22, 2026. The new Galaxy Z Series now includes the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8, each designed to cater to different user needs, ranging from high productivity to immersive content consumption and compact expression.

Innovations in the Galaxy Z Series

The latest Galaxy Z Series marks a significant milestone in foldable technology. Samsung has optimized its Galaxy AI for each specific form factor, providing a more personalized, proactive, and connected user experience, whether through the large display of the Galaxy Z Fold or the FlexWindow AI-native feature of the Galaxy Z Flip8.

TM Roh, CEO and President of Samsung's Device eXperience (DX) Division, stated, "As AI continues to evolve into a more agentic entity, mobile devices will serve as the most personal entry point to experiences that understand and adapt to each user. By setting new standards for foldable devices, we are once again delivering a leap in premium mobile experiences while ushering in a new era of smarter AI for an ever-growing user base."

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: A Professional Powerhouse

For the first time, Samsung has introduced the Ultra label to its foldable line, focusing on productivity and professional content creation. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features a massive 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display and a 6.5-inch cover screen when folded. It boasts the slimmest design in the Fold series, measuring just 4.1 mm thick when opened and weighing 215 grams.

Camera capabilities are impressive with a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10 MP telephoto lens. Samsung has included professional-grade features such as HDR 200 MP, Nightography, 8K video recording with APV codec, and Cine LUT for video production needs.

Performance is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, supported by a 5,000 mAh silicon carbon battery with fast charging at 45W, and a larger graphite-based cooling system. Samsung has also introduced Flex Titanium technology to enhance screen durability while minimizing the visibility of creases on the foldable panel.

Galaxy Z Fold8: A User-Friendly Experience

The Galaxy Z Fold8 takes center stage this year with a new, wider form factor aimed at content enthusiasts. Samsung markets it as the lightest Galaxy Z Fold ever, weighing only 201 grams. It features a 7.6-inch main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, while the cover screen has a 10:16 ratio for a more natural user experience when folded.

In terms of photography, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is equipped with a 50 MP wide camera and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, supporting Dual Recording along with a new AI feature called My FanCam, which automatically tracks subjects and converts recordings into ready-to-share vertical videos.

For performance, it also features the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, paired with a 4,800 mAh battery and 45W fast charging. The device offers a brightness level of up to 3,000 nits, complemented by Vision Booster and a low-reflection coating for comfortable outdoor use.

Galaxy Z Flip8: The Slimmest Yet

The Galaxy Z Flip8 emerges as Samsung's thinnest and lightest Flip model ever, measuring only 6.1 mm when opened and weighing 180 grams. It features a 6.9-inch main display, while the 4.1-inch FlexWindow serves as the hub for AI-native experiences, allowing users to access various applications, insights, and Galaxy AI features without flipping open the device.

Samsung has enhanced the photography experience with a 50 MP main camera featuring ProVisual Engine, FlexCam, Camcorder Grip, Super Steady with Horizontal Lock, and FlipShot for instant mirror selfies directly from the FlexWindow. These features are designed to help users create content easily without needing additional accessories.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is powered by the Exynos 2600 chipset, a 4,300 mAh battery, and runs on Android 17 with One UI 9.

Enhanced AI Integration Across the Series

The entire Galaxy Z Series introduces a more integrated Galaxy AI experience, including features like Now Brief, Now Nudge, Gemini Intelligence, and improved security through Samsung Knox and the Personal Data Engine.

Samsung has opened pre-orders for these exciting new devices, providing users an opportunity to secure their next foldable smartphone.
