Apple's iPhone Ultra Rumored to Feature 5000 mAh Battery

Rumors Surrounding iPhone Ultra Intensify

The speculation about Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Ultra, is gaining momentum. Recent leaks suggest that this device may feature a battery capacity of approximately 5,000 mAh, positioning it as one of the highest-capacity iPhones ever produced by Apple.

Battery Specifications Revealed

This information comes from Digital Chat Station, a well-known gadget leaker on Weibo, recognized for providing accurate insights on both Apple and Android products. According to their sources, a battery supplier for Apple has recently received certification for two battery units believed to be intended for the iPhone Ultra.

The certification documents indicate two battery cells with capacities of 1,921 mAh and 2,962 mAh. When combined, these cells yield a total rated capacity of 4,883 mAh. In the smartphone industry, the marketed capacity (typical capacity) is usually slightly higher than the rated capacity. Hence, many expect Apple to advertise the iPhone Ultra’s battery at around 5,000 mAh.

Innovative Split Battery Design

The split battery design is a characteristic feature of foldable smartphones. This configuration allows the batteries to be positioned on both sides of the device, accommodating the hinge mechanism while ensuring a balanced weight distribution. Such design choices not only enhance the device's usability but also contribute to its overall appeal.

Competing with Other Premium Foldables

This leak has further solidified the belief that Apple is genuinely preparing the iPhone Ultra as its first premium foldable smartphone. Interestingly, the battery capacity of the iPhone Ultra is speculated to be on par with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, which is also rumored to come equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery. Meanwhile, the standard version of the Galaxy Z Fold8 is expected to feature a 4,800 mAh battery.

If these rumors hold true, Apple appears determined to enter the foldable smartphone market with a competitive edge, offering battery capacity that rivals established players.

Additional Features and Launch Timeline

In addition to its impressive battery, the iPhone Ultra is rumored to boast a seamless foldable display, premium body materials, and the latest Apple chipset, which will be the successor to the existing Apple Silicon series for iPhones. Recent reports indicate that the iPhone Ultra project is progressing on schedule. Despite earlier rumors of delays, various sources now suggest Apple is still aiming for a September 2026 launch.

The iPhone Ultra is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, making it one of the most anticipated products at Apple's annual launch event. If it indeed arrives this year, the iPhone Ultra will mark a significant step for Apple as it ventures into the foldable smartphone market, a space dominated by Samsung and other Android manufacturers like Honor, Oppo, Vivo, and Huawei in recent years.
