OnePlus Exits US and Europe Markets, Future Uncertain

OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has officially announced its withdrawal from the American and European markets. This move signifies that the company will no longer introduce new products in these regions.

Transition to ColorOS

Oppo, the parent company of OnePlus, has stated that existing OnePlus devices will transition from OxygenOS to ColorOS for future software updates. This shift aims to streamline support and provide ongoing service for current users.

Assurance of Support

James Paterson, Senior PR Manager of Oppo in Europe, reassured customers that software updates and after-sales support would continue. However, details on how this support will be maintained in the US remain vague, especially since Oppo has no physical presence there.

Future of OnePlus Devices

In the coming months, OnePlus smartphones running on OxygenOS will convert to ColorOS. While CEO Elvis Zhou mentioned that users could revert to OxygenOS if they choose, they may not receive future updates through this option.

Global Market Prospects

As for OnePlus's future in international markets, Zhou refrained from commenting on specific countries where the brand might still operate. Recent reports suggest that OnePlus could exit India and other markets outside of China by 2027.

Despite these developments, a representative from Oppo confirmed that the product roadmap for OnePlus in China will remain unchanged. Additionally, Realme, another sub-brand of Oppo, is set to undergo restructuring to focus more on international markets while ceasing new product launches in China.

Upcoming Launches

OnePlus is currently preparing to launch its latest flagship device, the OnePlus 16. However, it remains unclear whether this model will be available outside of China.
