REKONIX Ends Journey After 13 Months in Dota 2

REKONIX has officially concluded its journey in the competitive Dota 2 scene. Announced on August 19, 2026, the organization, which is based in Indonesia, has decided to disband its team after approximately 13 months of operation.

This decision marks the end of a remarkable journey for an organization that quickly rose from a regional power to become a representative of Indonesia on the international Dota 2 competitive stage.

In a farewell statement to their fans, REKONIX management noted, "While REKONIX may cease to exist as a team, the experiences and struggles we've shared will remain a significant part of the Dota 2 esports journey in Indonesia."

Formation and Early Success

REKONIX was formed in July 2025 when it took over the majority roster of Tech Free Gaming (TFG). The initial lineup featured talented Indonesian players, including Jikroy, inYourdreaM, Fbz, dalul, and Varizh.

The team quickly made a name for itself in the regional scene. They achieved an impressive record by winning four consecutive editions of the EPL World Series Southeast Asia, clinching titles in Seasons 7, 8, 9, and 10.

International Breakthrough

REKONIX's regional dominance opened the door to international tier-1 competition in 2026. A pivotal moment in their journey was winning the Closed Qualifier for SEA DreamLeague Season 29, where they triumphed over Ivory with a decisive 3-0 in the grand final. This victory allowed them to compete against global powerhouses like Tundra Esports.

Aside from their participation in DreamLeague Season 29, REKONIX also made appearances in other prestigious international tournaments, including finishing 11th in the BLAST Slam VI and securing a prize of $10,000 (approximately IDR 178.45 million at an exchange rate of IDR 17,845 per USD), as well as competing in ESL One Birmingham 2026.

Remarkable Achievements

REKONIX continued to showcase its talent during the Asia Pacific Predator League 2026, where they finished as the runner-up, earning a prize of $20,000 (about IDR 356.9 million). Interestingly, all five players from REKONIX were included in the Dota 2 All-Star Team for the Predator League 2026.

In April 2026, to enhance their competitive edge, REKONIX made headlines by bringing in former The International champion Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Ivanov as a trial coach. This ambition culminated in their qualification as Southeast Asia representatives for the prestigious Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026. Although their journey ended in the group stage after facing strong global teams, they secured a 2-0 victory against Team Nemesis in their final match, showcasing the potential of the Indonesian roster.

Legacy of REKONIX

Despite the official disbandment, REKONIX's achievements over the past 13 months highlight the capabilities of Indonesian teams to compete at the highest levels of Dota 2. Their contribution to the esports landscape in Indonesia will not be forgotten and serves as an inspiration for future teams.
