Indonesia's Esports Team Finalizes Roster for Asian Games 2026

The Indonesian Esports Association (PB ESI) has officially completed the Entry By Name process for its esports contingent set to participate in the Main Event of the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. This crucial stage serves as the final administrative step and verification for the team ahead of their departure.

During the Entry By Name phase, all submitted match numbers and athlete lineups undergo evaluation by the National Sports Performance Improvement Team (PPON) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora). This assessment determines the final composition that will represent Indonesia.

Journey to the Asian Games

The path for the Indonesian National Esports Team to the Asian Games 2026 began with the Entry By Number phase, followed by National Selection (Seleknas) and a competitive regional qualification round. Indonesia successfully secured its spot in the Main Event by competing in five categories during the qualification rounds.

These five categories complement three others that were pre-projected to participate directly in the Main Event. Out of the nine events proposed by PB ESI, the PPON's evaluation confirmed that eight would officially be part of the Indonesian contingent, with the Competitive Martial Arts (CMA) category excluded from the final list.

Focus on Athlete Preparation

According to Glorya Famiela Ralahallo, the manager of the Indonesian National Esports Team, PB ESI respects the entire evaluation process conducted with Kemenpora and is now shifting its focus to athlete preparation. The decisions made during the Entry By Name phase will play a pivotal role in optimizing training programs to ensure athletes are in peak condition for the competitive landscape at the Asian level.

PB ESI has also submitted various supporting documents to the PPON, including athletes' performance records, medal opportunity projections, and technical evaluations for each game category as part of the finalization process.

Final Roster Announcement

The final Entry By Name results confirm that 34 athletes will represent the Indonesian National Esports Team across eight event categories at the Asian Games 2026. Notably, the roster for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team has undergone a change, with Albert Neilsen 'Alberttt' Iskandar officially joining the national squad, replacing Muhammad Halim Adicondro.

This roster adjustment was made based on the team's technical requirements and the evaluative efforts of the BTN alongside the coaching staff throughout the preparation process leading up to the regional qualifications.

Looking Ahead

PB ESI expressed gratitude to all athletes, coaches, and support staff who have been part of the extensive journey from Entry By Number to National Selection, regional qualifying rounds, and finalizing Entry By Name. With 34 athletes now confirmed, the next step will focus on refining both technical and non-technical preparations to ensure that Indonesia's representatives perform at their best during the Asian Games 2026.

Indonesia's participation in eight esports categories in Aichi-Nagoya is anticipated to solidify the nation's standing as a significant force in the Asian esports arena, contributing to the overarching vision of making 'Esports Indonesia Mendunia.'
