Introduction to MediaTek's Vision
Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a standard feature in the latest smartphones, but according to MediaTek, this is just the beginning. Anuj Sidharth, MediaTek's Director of Marketing & Communication for India and Southeast Asia, highlighted that in the coming years, users will experience more real-time AI applications that are genuinely useful in daily life.
AI Development in Smartphones
During a media discussion held at Aroem Resto & Ballroom Mahakam, Sidharth emphasized that MediaTek is actively improving various technologies within its Dimensity chipsets. These advancements encompass graphics processing (GPU), camera capabilities, video processing, and the Neural Processing Unit (NPU), which is integral to AI functions in devices.
“There’s much more to come. People will start to see AI applications in real-time and how AI can be genuinely beneficial in their lives,” Sidharth stated. He believes that the current state of AI in smartphones is still in its early stages. In the future, AI capabilities are expected to extend beyond image generation and text summarization to become more integrated with various device functions.
Revolutionizing Mobile Gaming
Aside from AI, Sidharth also pointed out the advancements in gaming technology on smartphones. Features like ray tracing, which were once exclusive to PCs, are now making their way into mobile devices, offering significantly more realistic graphics quality. “When we talk about gaming, ray tracing support is something we never imagined before. Now, we can enjoy an incredible gaming experience with stunning visuals on smartphones,” he remarked.
Future of Connectivity
Sidharth envisions continuous growth in connectivity technology. He imagines a future where users can communicate even in areas lacking cellular networks. “Imagine being in a location without connectivity but still having the ability to communicate using different technologies. That's something people will increasingly desire in the future,” he added.
Broadening Horizons Beyond Smartphones
MediaTek’s innovations are not limited to smartphones; the company is also developing various technological solutions for a broader ecosystem, including automotive devices, WiFi routers, and smart home products. “We aim to enhance people's lives, not just through smartphones, but also through automotive technology, connectivity solutions, WiFi routers, and various other devices,” Sidharth explained.
In Indonesia, Sidharth expressed optimism regarding the market's reception of MediaTek's premium chipsets. He noted that the Dimensity 8000 Series and Dimensity 9000 Series have received positive feedback from consumers in the region. “The support we have received in Indonesia has been tremendous, especially for our premium Dimensity 8000 and Dimensity 9000 chipsets. We are just getting started, so stay tuned for MediaTek’s upcoming innovations,” he concluded.
