Realme Exits China Market to Focus on Global Expansion

Realme, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has officially announced its decision to stop selling products in the domestic Chinese market. The company is shifting its focus toward expanding its reach globally.

Announcement from Realme's Leadership

This significant decision was confirmed by Xu Qi Chase, the President of Realme China, through a statement shared on the social media platform Weibo. Chase emphasized that this move is aimed at consolidating the company's resources to strengthen its international expansion efforts, particularly in Europe.

Strategic Focus on Global Markets

In his announcement, Chase expressed that concentrating on global markets requires considerable courage. He stated, “Today, I announce that Realme will temporarily cease its operations in China.” He further elaborated that the company aims to channel its resources into enhancing performance and gaming experiences while delivering cutting-edge technology to users worldwide.

Support for Existing Users

Despite halting operations in China, Realme reassured its existing customers in the country that they need not worry. The company confirmed that sales of remaining products, after-sales services, and warranty claims will continue to be managed by the official Oppo team.

Software Changes Ahead

Alongside the exit from the Chinese market, Realme also announced a significant change in its software strategy. The Realme UI interface will be phased out and replaced by ColorOS, the operating system utilized by Oppo. Users of Realme devices will receive updates to ColorOS once the latest version of the OS is released for their devices.

This transition aligns with Oppo's previous strategy, which involved integrating OnePlus's OxygenOS into ColorOS, starting with Android 17. Chase noted, “This is a rational change for us, and we have considered it thoroughly. We thank Realme users in China for sharing this journey with us.”

While Chase did not clarify whether this exit from China is a permanent decision, he referred to it as a “pause” in operations, suggesting that the return to the Chinese market could be a possibility in the future.
