Realme's Shift to ColorOS 17
Realme India has officially announced that its upcoming smartphones will be equipped with ColorOS 17. This decision follows a recent media report suggesting a merger between Realme UI and Oppo's ColorOS, aimed at optimizing research and development expenditures.
Aiming for Simplicity
The primary goal behind this transition is to enhance the user experience by streamlining the update process. While Realme has not disclosed which smartphone will be the first to feature ColorOS 17, it is anticipated that Oppo devices will receive the update ahead of Realme's.
ColorOS 17 for Existing Devices
In addition to new launches, Realme has assured users that existing smartphones eligible for upgrades will also receive ColorOS 17. For instance, the Realme GT 8 Pro, originally released with Realme UI 7.0, is set to be updated to ColorOS 17, in line with its commitment to provide four Android OS upgrades.
Similarities Between Realme UI and ColorOS
From the perspective of users, the transition from Realme UI to ColorOS 17 may not represent a dramatic change, as both interfaces share many similarities. Historically, earlier Realme devices were launched with ColorOS before the brand transitioned to Realme UI in 2020. Notably, the Realme 3 Pro and Realme XT were among the first to adopt the Realme UI, while the Realme C3 was the first to ship with it pre-installed.
It is important to note that this shift to ColorOS is currently confirmed only for the Indian market, although it is likely that similar changes will occur in other regions in the future.
