Samsung Galaxy A18 Renders Indicate Familiar Design Approach

Samsung is gearing up to unveil its latest budget smartphone, the Galaxy A18, but those expecting a significant redesign may need to temper their enthusiasm. Recent CAD renders have emerged, showcasing a device that closely resembles its predecessor, the Galaxy A17, with only a few subtle modifications.

Similar Design Language

The new renders, shared by Smartphone Checker and prominent leaker OnLeaks, are based on factory CAD files typically utilized by accessory manufacturers prior to a product’s launch. While these files may not accurately depict the final color options or finishes, they provide a reliable insight into the device’s dimensions, button placements, and overall form factor.

At first glance, the Galaxy A18 retains the same 6.7-inch display as the Galaxy A17, featuring Samsung’s signature Infinity-U notch. The triple-camera array on the rear remains intact, although there are slight adjustments in the camera housing design. The pill-shaped surround appears to be less pronounced, offering a sleeker appearance against the back panel.

Dimensions and Build

The dimensions of the Galaxy A18 reflect these minor changes. Reportedly measuring 164.4 x 77.8 x 7.84mm, the device is almost identical in size to the Galaxy A17, being just 0.1mm narrower while gaining approximately 0.34mm in thickness. It remains to be seen whether this slight increase in thickness translates to a larger battery capacity, though rumors suggest it will maintain a 5,000mAh battery.

Processor Changes on the Horizon

Where the Galaxy A18 starts to differentiate itself is in the processing department. According to the leaks, Samsung may be making a notable switch for the 5G variant, moving from its in-house Exynos chipset to a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. While the exact chip remains undisclosed, speculations indicate it could be the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3. Meanwhile, the 4G version is expected to continue using a MediaTek chipset, although the specific model is still uncertain.

Variants and Pricing Insights

The rumors also point towards the availability of both 4G and 5G models. The 4G variant has reportedly surfaced in the GSMA database under the model number SM-A185F, adding credibility to the information ahead of the official launch. Pricing expectations appear consistent with the previous generation, with estimates suggesting around £199 for the Galaxy A18 5G and approximately £169 for the 4G version, aligning closely with the launch prices of the Galaxy A17.

As for the launch timeline, Samsung has yet to make an official announcement regarding the Galaxy A18. However, reports hint that mass production could kick off as early as August, potentially leading to a release in autumn 2026, in line with the company’s typical schedule for its A-series devices.

Stay tuned for more updates as we await further details on the Galaxy A18’s features and specifications.
