Garmin Launches Edge 1060 and Tacx Nēra for Cyclists in Indonesia

Garmin has announced the arrival of two innovative devices aimed at enhancing the cycling experience in Indonesia: the Edge 1060 and Tacx Nēra. As cycling gains popularity across the nation, these new products are designed to cater to both outdoor enthusiasts and indoor training aficionados.

Surge in Cycling Activities

According to data from Garmin Connect Indonesia, there has been a remarkable 51% increase in recorded cycling activities from January to September 2026, totaling 899,224 activities compared to 595,609 during the same period last year. This surge reflects the growing trend of cycling as a lifestyle choice among Indonesians.

The Edge 1060: A Smart Cycling Companion

The Edge 1060 is specifically designed for road cyclists. One of its standout features is the built-in microphone and speaker, allowing riders to control various functions using voice commands. Cyclists can simply say "Okay, Garmin" to check performance statistics, find routes, or send voice messages using Garmin Messenger without needing to interact with the screen while cycling.

This device combines both a touch screen and physical buttons, making it more practical in adverse weather conditions where touch screens may be less responsive. The Edge 1060 also offers route planning based on bike type and elevation preferences, along with travel time estimates, distance tracking, traffic information, and road hazard alerts.

Innovative Features for Enhanced Navigation

Among its many features, the Edge 1060 introduces Free Flow Routing, which helps cyclists select routes with fewer obstacles. Additionally, the GroupRide feature enables users to share their location, exchange real-time messages, and receive incident alerts during group rides.

Battery life is another strong point for the Edge 1060, providing up to 20 hours of intensive use and up to 60 hours in battery-saver mode, making it reliable for long outings.

Tacx Nēra: Indoor Training Made Realistic

For those who prefer indoor cycling, Garmin has launched the Tacx Nēra, a smart indoor trainer that simulates outdoor cycling experiences. It boasts a power and cadence measurement accuracy of 1%, simulating climbs of up to 20% gradient and supporting sprint power up to 2,200 watts.

The Tacx Nēra features a Motion Pod that allows for realistic movement in multiple directions, enhancing the indoor cycling experience. Furthermore, it supports virtual shifting for training and racing on platforms like Zwift, allowing users to transition seamlessly from outdoor cycling to indoor training without the hassle of adjusting gear systems.

Addressing Environmental Challenges

Garmin's Marketing Communications Manager for Indonesia, Rian Krisna, noted that the increase in cycling activities signals a transformation in lifestyle, mobility, and community engagement. He acknowledged that changing weather conditions and urban pollution present challenges for cyclists, which is why Garmin is committed to developing devices that support outdoor and indoor cycling activities.

In addition to the Edge 1060 and Tacx Nēra, Garmin has also unveiled the Edge Explore 3 and Edge Explore 3 Plus for touring and bikepacking. However, these two models will not be officially available in Indonesia.
