Meta, the parent company of Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook, has officially unveiled a new application called Seller. This innovative tool is specifically tailored for active users engaged in buying and selling on Facebook Marketplace.
Features of the Seller App
Seller is equipped with a variety of features aimed at streamlining business operations. Users can create listings utilizing advanced artificial intelligence (AI), which aids in inventory management as well.
A standout feature of the Seller app is the integrated Meta AI. This allows users to upload a photo of their item, after which the AI generates a title and description, identifies the appropriate category, and even suggests a price. This functionality is designed to simplify the listing process significantly.
Efficient Bulk Listing
In addition to individual listings, Seller supports bulk listing capabilities. This means users can upload multiple products simultaneously, eliminating the tedious task of listing items one by one manually.
The app also includes a feature called Seller Home, which displays vital activities such as pending orders, unanswered buyer messages, and a summary of sales performance. This centralized dashboard makes it easier for sellers to keep track of their business activities.
Unified Seller Inbox and Performance Insights
Another notable feature is the Unified Seller Inbox, which organizes conversations by product, making it more manageable for sellers to respond to inquiries. Furthermore, the Performance Insights tool provides valuable data, including views, clicks, buyer interactions, and sales figures. This information helps sellers assess and improve their business performance.
Verification Process for Sellers
Upcoming changes to the platform will require formal identity verification for users wishing to register as sellers, particularly for high-risk and high-value items, including electronics, vehicles, and real estate. Previously, Facebook users could quickly upload photos of second-hand items and offer them to the public. However, Meta will now mandate that sellers complete official identity verification, which includes providing an ID and facial recognition.
This verification process aims to ensure that the accounts offering items are genuine and accountable individuals, rather than bots or cybercriminals exploiting cloned or hacked accounts. Verified sellers will receive a special label indicating their status, which will enhance their visibility on the platform.
Verified accounts will be prioritized by Facebook's algorithms, increasing the likelihood that their product listings will be discovered by potential buyers nearby.
Currently, the Seller app is available on the Apple App Store for iOS users aged 18 and older in the United States. There is no information yet on when this application will be accessible in other countries.
